It happened so much that the credit card processors (Visa, Amex, etc) threatened to stop doing business with Jagex entirely, forcing them to take drastic action. When the account owners noticed of course they disputed the fradulent charges and Jagex had to pay the money back. It definitely works if you're getting screwed/scammed by someone, but it's a good way to get permanently banned from that company.Ī little history in case people don't know: Back in the day RS had a problem with people (usually botters) paying for membership with stolen credit cards.
Not just OSRS, companies in general get penalized when that happens and they hate it, it's basically the nuclear option.
